About

Peter Haikalis was born in Akron, Ohio in 1919.

He attended art classes at Akron Art Institute and was employed as a commercial artist prior to entering the military service during World War II. He worked as a commercial artist while attending classes at Kent State University where he continued to strive for perfection in his art under the guidance of Elmer Novotny and Robert Morrow. His vocation took him to Milwaukee, then Detroit and Washington, D.C. where he studied under Gustav Trois and continued his advertising career.

His paintings have been awarded credits in many shows. He worked in many media – oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, pen and ink. He resided in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
